Questions we hear

Time to renew
for 2027?

About 7 in 100 Mustang adults 19 to 64 had only a plan they bought on their own, the Census Bureau reports. People renewing here ask us these.

“I got two letters about next year. What do they say?”

By November 1, HealthCare.gov says you should get one letter from your insurance company and one from the Marketplace. Together they show if your plan is still offered and what's changing.

“What happens if I do nothing?”

If you don't act by December 15, you may be put back in a plan for January 1. In some cases you won't be. Either way, update your application first.

“My pay went up this year. Does that change things?”

It can. Update your 2027 income. Under current law, if you use more tax credit than you qualify for, you pay back the difference on your federal taxes.

When can I renew or switch plans for 2027 in Oklahoma?

Oklahoma uses HealthCare.gov. As of October 31, 2026, HealthCare.gov lists 2027 open enrollment as November 1, 2026, through January 15, 2027. A court case about these dates, City of Columbus v. Kennedy, is still in the courts. Check HealthCare.gov for the latest dates. Choose by December 15 for a January 1 start. Choose by January 15 for a February 1 start.

Can SoonerCare be an option at renewal?

It can, if your income dropped. As of October 31, 2026, KFF lists Oklahoma as an ACA Medicaid expansion state since July 1, 2021. Updating your application checks for SoonerCare too.

Can I still switch after I'm put back in a plan?

Yes. HealthCare.gov says you can pick a different plan by January 15, 2027. That plan would start February 1.

I lost my letters. What now?

For the insurance company letter, contact your plan. For the Marketplace letter, contact the Marketplace Call Center.

Will my tax credit be the same next year?

Not always. HealthCare.gov says you could qualify for more or less. Updating your income is the only way to know.

What county is Mustang in?

What should I have ready?

Both renewal letters, your 2027 income estimate, and your doctors and drugs.

Does a plan cover emergency care out of town?
